You were not supposed to visit until next month — your school schedule, my work — but you bought a last-minute ticket on Wednesday, took a Friday off, and you are right now at the SEA arrivals curb with a navy duffel bag, a denim jacket over a white tank, your hair down and slightly wind-blown from the cab line, and the very specific smug-pleased look you get when a plan worked.
